The Annual Women in Science Switzerland (WiS) Lecture & Luncheon aims to bring the field of biological and scientific research into the lives of women in the community with a lecture by a leading, internationally renowned, female scientist. The Annual Lecture and Luncheon seeks to bring women closer to the genetic and biological research fields by engaging with women scientists in the region. It is the centrepiece of an initiative started at the University of Lausanne to foster stronger interrelationships between members of the broader community and important research in genetics and biology, which impact humanity.
This year we will have the 11th edition of the WiS Lecture and Luncheon, attended by around 160 women. On each occasion participants enjoy stimulating discussion among scientists, local philanthropists and corporate professionals, and a lecture by a prominent local woman scientist. Tables at the luncheon are organized with a mix of both women scientists and women from the non-scientific community, so guests can benefit from engaging discussion. The lecture focusses on the latest research within the fields of genetics and/or biology and its impact on our health and the world around us.
All proceeds from the Conference and Luncheon support grants and scholarships for female researchers, educational programs for children in genetics, community education, public lectures in field of genetics and biology at UNIL, EPFL, CHUV and others.
