Once a year, the Centre for Integrative Genomics (CIG) hosts an international conference with world-renowned scientists to discuss research on a specific topic. The symposium aims to present biological innovations in the broadest possible sense to explore both the origins of genes, biochemical pathways, cells, tissues, organisms, behaviours and societies, and how we can harness this knowledge for beneficial technologies. The invited speakers cover a vast diversity of questions, model systems and techniques fostering a rare moment for novel cross-pollination of ideas and approaches both between speakers and with the audience.
As part of the CIG Symposium, the Grace Public Lecture is invaluable in communicating to the general public recent developments in research and science, as well as the valuable contribution research has to play in our understanding of the world around us. For more information on the CIG Symposium please visit the website. See below for previous speakers of the Public Lecture.

Why does the WISS support this event?
Similarly to the WISS, proceeds from the annual Lecture and Dinner help to support different activities associated to the Fund for Research and Education in Genetics which is housed at the University of Lausanne and in partnership with the CIG, WISS strongly supports our wider network (including men and boys!) to benefit from this stimulating annual public lecture followed by a unique opportunity to dine with the world's leading scientists in genetics research.
The event is intended for the lay public from all backgrounds and ages. In line the the goals of WISS, this event encourages the convergence different expertise fusing local communities from the private, corporate and philanthropic sectors with the international scientific community. Through the Lecture and Dinner, WISS continues to increase the opportunities for the local population to gain access to the latest developments in genetics from global research that impact humanity and our interaction with the world.
What: Public lecture and (optional) dinner
When: June, annually
Where: Dorigny Campus, University of Lausanne
Proceeds go to: Support research and education activities at the Center for Integrative Genomics
Next year's Public Lecture and Dinner is themed : "Ageing and Anti-Ageing", check back soon for more information on the speaker and lecture.
